Utility Technician


Position: Utility Technician

Job Status: Open – applications accepted until position is filled

Compensation: $23.34 to $39.99/ hour DOE/Q

North Perry Avenue Water District is located in Bremerton, Washington. We are accepting applications for a full time water distribution technician. We are in search of a committed, enthusiastic, and motivated self-starter to join our team. No experience necessary, though relatable experience in the water industry and/or construction can be a plus.

This position assists in the construction and maintenance work necessary for maintaining the districtís water supply and distribution system. This position reports to the maintenance and construction supervisor.

Example of Duties:
- Repair, replace, inspect, install, and maintain water mains, service lines, meters, fire hydrants, and other distribution components
- Maintenance of water facilities including; treatment systems, pumps, buildings, and reservoirs
- Handle routine customer service as dispatched by the office or supervisor
- Work week end stand by as scheduled
- Maintain work records, input and manage data as needed for record keeping in an asset management system
- Meter Reading
- Other duties as assigned

Necessary Skills and Abilities:
- Excellent customer service
- Clear and effective communication (including written and electronic)
- Ability to work with others as a team
- Ability to work individually as directed
- Ability to safely operate various power and hand tools
- Ability to safely operate large equipment (preferred)

- High school diploma or equivalent
- Possess a valid Washington State driver’s license
- Be capable of being insured
- Physical ability to lift 100 pounds, perform semi-heavy labor possibly in adverse weather conditions, and in emergency situations be able to work any hours of the day or night
- Possess a Washington State water work certification (preferred) or be capable of obtaining within one year after probationary period
- Possess a Washington State cross connection certification (preferred) or be capable of obtaining within two years after probationary period
- Obtain and maintain qualifications in first aid and CPR
- Obtain and maintain certifications in flagging and traffic control
- Possess a Washington State commercial driver’s license (preferred)
